St. Mary News

Dear Friend of St. Mary School,

We have exciting news to share: Our roof has been replaced, our downstairs furnace line has been repaired, a third floor bathroom has been added and the basement, exterior walls and windows have been waterproofed. In addition, the finishing touches are being placed on our eighth-grade classroom renovation. Every surface in this room has been upgraded for better and more economical lighting, open traffic flow, improved networking and more efficient organization and storage.  All will translate to a positive, productive learning and spiritual environment. Photos say it best, as shown, below (more online at saintmaryschool.org, or arrange for a tour any time).enovation highlights: New ceiling, lighting, wiring, outlets, wall paint, window coverings, storage, closet cabinets, flooring, bulletin and white boards, networked screen, wireless networking, laptop workstations, weatherproofing and more.

Many of you have contributed to our project (some multiple times), and we are so very grateful for your donations, prayers and work-in-kind. We know you will agree when you see these improvements: After decades of service, all rooms deserve this upgrade.

But to complete this worthwhile project, we need your ongoing help.
More exciting news:  Generous donors have stepped forward to challenge our giving community: Your donation will be matched, dollar for dollar—up to $50,000— if received by December 25, 2012.

Any donation is welcomed—and will serve as a huge vote of confidence for our school, our students, our staff and the five parish communities who steadfastly support St. Mary School each and every day. Our goal is 100% participation. In our economically challenged community, this project sends an inspiring message to all: Remain steadfast in God’s Faith, Hope and Love, and believe in a bright and better today, and tomorrow.

Thank you for your consideration and prayers. If you’ve given before to the school or this project, know how much we appreciate your trust in us, and your willingness to support St. Mary School again.

A donation form is included in this mailing; credit cards, checks, stock transfers and work-in-kind are welcomed.  Remember, too, that you can pledge an amount to be paid over months or years.  Or call me, Katie Beyer, with any questions you might have about this campaign or to design your own gift-giving plan. Please also let us know if your employer will match your gift.

We would also like to acknowledge your gift, if you approve, but, as always, giving levels will remain confidential.

Blessings and gratitude to you and yours,

Katie  Beyer                                                      Gail Quigg

Student Reactions to Our Recent 8th Grade Classroom Remodel:

“We feel special. Thank you for caring about us enough to remodel our classroom.”

“Before our room looked old, with bad lighting, no storage and never enough outlets. It’s easier to read, study and work.”

“The new lighting makes the room feel more peaceful. The colors of the paint add a warm atmosphere, making it easier to focus and learn.”

“The lighting and organization are so much better…I can concentrate better.”

“The cool closet cabinets store everything---even the printers---so we have lots more space in the room, and are less distracted.”

“Everything works. And, with the new technology, I know I will be prepared for high school.”

From our 8th Grade Teacher, Mrs. Maureen Lewis:

“We worry less about the challenges caused by an old building, and more on learning.  Many students have commented that the room feels more professional, and conducive to studying. The new colors, lights and technology make for a really effective and creative academic environment. The improved networking brings us closer to each other, the rest of the school and the world beyond. Our collective thanks for addressing so many needs…an answer to prayers.”
