26-27 Academic School Year Open Positions
**Extended School Services Supervisor & Instructional Aide**
St. Mary School, located in Aberdeen, WA, has an opening for a part-time Extended School Services Supervisor and Instructional Aide. This position seeks candidates with experience working with a wide age range of students in a variety of educational situations. The position includes both time in the classroom assisting teachers and students during the school day as well as daily supervision of the Extended School Services Program and its enrolled students.
The position begins with the opening of the academic school year 2026-27 and is not benefit eligible.
Extended School Services description: ESS stands for Extended School Services. ESS is our after school care program that is open to Kinder thru 8th grade students whose families need after school childcare until a parent/family member can pick them up from school. ESS consists of play time, planned activities, homework time, and snack time. ESS is offered Monday through Friday from 2:50-5:15 (Thursdays start at 2:05). We also offer ESS on most early release days unless the early release is for a holiday. On an early release day, ESS runs from 12:20 to 5:15pm.
Generally, there are anywhere from 5-15 kids in ESS on any given day. The ESS supervisor is completely in charge of the program and runs the program on his/her own. In fact, the ESS supervisor is often the last staff member in the building each day.
The duties of an Instructional Aide include, but are not limited to:
Assisting and working collaboratively with the classroom teachers
Preparing materials, projects, and assignments
Instructing small groups
Helping to maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment
Assisting the teacher in the enforcement of classroom rules and daily routines
Supervising students in various locations including the playground and lunchroom
Working with students who have a diverse set of needs and learning styles
The successful candidate
Is willing to partner with a vibrant, energetic school community that works collaboratively for the sake of all students in the school.
Creates a warm, well-managed, organized and supportive Extended School Services environment that engages all students as learners and provides compassionate and structured caregiving.
Has a strong background working independently with students from a variety of age groups.
Has the ability to foster social and academic growth and show compassion and concern for students, an enthusiasm for learning
Has the ability to collaborate with their partner teacher, other staff members, and parents.
Is a practicing Catholic who is committed to the mission and ministry of Catholic education and uses the teachings of Christ in creating a supportive environment for children and families (preferred).
Uses a variety of student management strategies to meet the diverse behavioral needs of each student.
Can effectively communicate with an active parent community.
Is willing to add value to the school community using their gifts and talents outside the classroom.
Has a desire to continue professional development.
Requirements:
Practicing Catholic (preferred, but not required)
Be at least 18 years of age
Have a high school diploma or equivalent; a paraeducator certificate is a plus
Ability to complete the Seattle Archdiocese’s Safe Environment Training
Clear a Washington State Background Check
Hours: Monday thru Friday, 11:00am - 5:15pm (28.5 hours per week following school calendar)
Wage: $19.50/hr.

**Part-time Religion Instructor**
St. Mary School, located in Aberdeen, WA, has an opening for a part-time Religion Instructor. This position seeks candidates with experience working with a wide age range of students in a classroom setting involving Catholic Religion instruction.
The position begins with the opening of the 2026-2027 school year.
Qualifications:
Practicing Catholic (Required)
Demonstrated knowledge of Religion instruction practices/curriculum and Catholic Social Teachings and the ability to implement
Extended experience working with and instructing elementary aged children
Evidence of ability to interact collaboratively with students, parents, and
administration.
Evidence of excellent oral and written skills.
Be at least 18 years of age
Have a high school diploma or equivalent; Associates and/or Bachelor Degree, a plus
Ability to complete the Seattle Archdiocese’s Safe Environment Training
Clear a Washington State Background Check
Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with the school’s Lead Religion teacher
Assists with instructing students in the Catholic faith utilizing the approved Religion curriculum
Adapts curriculum to the needs of the students with varying intellectual abilities, and accommodates a variety of instructional needs.
Evaluates each student’s faith knowledge growth, performance, and understanding in relationship to the level being taught; communicates with homeroom teacher individual student progress.
Follows Policies and Procedures as set forth by school administration and the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Provides a clean, safe, faith-filled and nurturing classroom environment.
Participates in staff meetings as needed
Maintains appropriate records for students
Establishes and maintains standards for acceptable student behavior using
appropriate classroom management techniques
Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with
others
All other duties as assigned
Schedule: To be determined and mutually agreed upon between employee and administration.
Wage: $19.50 - $22.00/hr.
